Linda Van Alstyne







Feltmaker Linda Van Alstyne, has been creating fiber fantasies since 1995. Her unique masks, vessels, collages and artful wearables are fashioned by layering color, texture and found objects.

> Linda has studied feltmaking at home and abroad in Norway and the Netherlands. Her work appears in the recent publications Uniquely Felt, (Storey Press) , How They Felt, (Interweave Press) and 1000 Artisan Textiles (Quarry Books). Linda co-authored Needle Felt (Felt Crafts), with Anne Vickery and Pat Spark. Linda’s award-winning masks have been exhibited by invitation, in galleries throughout the United States. Her well recognized “OSCAR” was chosen as the home page of International Feltmaker’s Association, 2004. A feature article, “Linda an Extraordinary Maskmaker,” appeared in Echoes , issue 61, journal of International Feltmaker’s Association. Linda has produced an instructional video, F’enomenal Felt-Making Flowers. She is the president of the Northeast Feltmakers Guild since 2008 and is a member of the International Feltmaker's Association. Her distinctive sculpting and layered dyeing techniques have made her a popular instructor in the felting community. Linda contributes time fundraising for charitable groups through community feltmaking events.
