Roz Spier, Feltworks by Roz
Roz was a serious knitter when she first heard of handmade felt in
1994. At a lecture demonstration given by Massachusetts feltmaker Beth
Beede she tried on a large coat made by Ms. Beede and fell in love with
it. That coat changed her life. She studied with Beth Beede in weekend
workshops and at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. She studied further
with Layne Goldsmith of the University of Washington, Polly Stirling of
Australia, and May Hvistendahl of Norway. In 1996 she opened a studio in
Hartford and in 1997 made her first coat.
