Myra worked in the fiber arts as a hobbyist for many years creating soft sculptures from fabrics, trims and found objects. She was never satisfied with her work, however, experiencing a huge gap between the original conception and the finished piece. Then, in 2002 she took a beginners felt workshop and found her passion. After months of making felt evenings and weekends in a makeshift corner of her home and destroying pounds of fiber in the process, Myra’s work began to keep pace with her ideas and the ideas never stopped. She took the plunge at self-employment, working half time as a fundraising and events management consultant to nonprofit organizations and devoting the rest of her life to her new business, Medusa Fiber Arts. Myra creates mostly functional work: one-of-a-kind handmade accessories and wearable art. Her felt is shown at boutiques and in the homes of collectors across the country. She recently began accepting commissions. As her work continues to evolve Myra has given up trying to keep her web site current.
